Selling Your Car as an Expat in Dubai: The Complete Guide
As an expat in Dubai you can sell your car privately, to a dealer, or by consignment. You need your Emirates ID, the car's registration (Mulkiya) and a bank clearance letter if the car is financed. Selling to a dealer like Carology is the fastest: you get a fair market offer, the RTA transfer is handled for you, and you are paid in full on the spot. Carology buys every spec, including American, Canadian and Japanese imports.
Your three options
- Private sale: often the highest headline price, but you handle strangers, test drives, payment risk and the RTA visit
- Sell to a dealer: fastest and simplest, paid the same day
- Consignment: a dealer sells the car for you to a retail buyer, usually for more than a quick sale
Documents you need
- Emirates ID (valid)
- Vehicle registration card (Mulkiya)
- Bank clearance or liability letter if the car is financed
- Spare key and service records, if you have them
Non-GCC cars are welcome
Many expats drive American, Canadian or Japanese imports. These sell in Dubai every day. Carology buys every spec and prices it fairly based on its condition, history and demand.
Getting paid
When you sell to Carology you are paid in full before you leave, by bank transfer or manager's cheque. The price we agree is the price you get, with no last-minute haggling and no "we'll transfer it next week".
