UAE Petrol Prices October 2026: What the 16% Rise Means for Car Buyers
UAE fuel prices rose by about 16% on 1 October 2026. Super 98 is now AED 4.40 a litre (up from 3.80), Special 95 AED 4.28 (from 3.69), E-Plus 91 AED 4.21 (from 3.61) and diesel AED 4.80 (from 4.30). For a typical Dubai driver covering 2,500 km a month, that adds roughly AED 90 to 230 a month depending on the car. The cheapest fix is a more fuel-efficient car: a compact sedan uses about half the petrol of a large V8 SUV.
October 2026 UAE fuel prices
- Super 98: AED 4.40 per litre (September: 3.80)
- Special 95: AED 4.28 per litre (September: 3.69)
- E-Plus 91: AED 4.21 per litre (September: 3.61)
- Diesel: AED 4.80 per litre (September: 4.30)
The UAE fuel price committee sets prices monthly in line with global oil. Crude climbed sharply through September, with Brent close to USD 110 a barrel amid renewed US and Iran hostilities and tension around the Strait of Hormuz, and pump prices followed.
What it costs you every month
Here is the monthly fuel bill on Special 95 for a driver covering 2,500 km a month, a common figure for a Dubai to Sharjah or Dubai Marina to Downtown commute. Consumption figures are typical real-world numbers with the air conditioning on.
- Camry Hybrid (about 4.8 L/100 km): AED 514 a month, up AED 71
- Kia Rio, Nissan Sunny, Toyota Yaris (about 6 L/100 km): AED 642, up AED 89
- Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra (about 6.5 L/100 km): AED 696, up AED 96
- Compact SUV like a Nissan X-Trail or Audi Q3 (about 8.5 L/100 km): AED 910, up AED 125
- Mid-size V6 SUV like a Chevrolet Traverse or Jeep Grand Cherokee (about 12 L/100 km): AED 1,284, up AED 177
- Large V8 SUV like a Nissan Patrol or Lincoln Navigator (about 15.5 L/100 km): AED 1,658, up AED 229
Over a year, the gap between a compact sedan and a big V8 SUV at today's prices is around AED 12,000. For many families that is more than the difference in the cars' purchase prices.
Should you change your car because of petrol prices?
If you drive a lot and the big SUV is mainly carrying one person to work, switching to an efficient sedan or hybrid pays back quickly. If you genuinely need seven seats or off-road ability, a smaller-engined SUV or a hybrid SUV is the middle ground. Prices also move every month, so choose a car that makes sense even if petrol eases again.
